The Phoenix Open, also known as the Waste Management Phoenix Open, is like, one of the most popular golf tourneys on the PGA Tour. It’s held every year in Scottsdale, Arizona – beautiful place, btw – and it’s known for its crazy finishes, HUGE crowds, and a pretty awesome history. In this here article, we’ll take a looksee at the latest news, some killer performances, tournament records, and past winners. I’m kinda excited to write this, actually.

A Thrilling Finish, Man!

The Phoenix Open is famous for its, like, thrilling finishes. Players are always battling it out, often in a playoff. That 16th hole, the “Coliseum,” it’s legendary! So many memorable moments there, like that 2019 playoff between Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka – I was totally on the edge of my seat! The crowd’s energy is insane; over 650,000 fans showed up in 2022! Can you even imagine?!

Leaderboard Update – Things got crazy!

As of the final round on January 29th, 2023 (I think?), the leaderboard looked somethin’ like this:

Player Score Par Position
Jon Rahm -17 71 1
Justin Thomas -16 70 2
Xander Schauffele -15 69 T3

Notable Performances – Some guys really shined!

  • Jon Rahm: Rahm won his second Phoenix Open title in a row! He shot a 3-under 69 in the final round. Dude’s a machine! Seriously impressive.

  • Xander Schauffele: Schauffele got third, a 1-under 71. He’s so consistent, it’s scary. This guy’s gonna win big someday.

Tournament Records – Some mind-blowing stats!

  • Lowest Score: 59 by Phil Mickelson in 2013. Unbelievable! That course is tough!
  • Most Consecutive Birdies: 10 by Rickie Fowler in 2017. Wowzers! That’s just insane.
  • Most Putts in a Round: 33 by Jason Day in 2016. Ouch! Putting is so important, and that’s a lot of putts!
