Australia’s Tour of Sri Lanka 2025: A Thrilling Series, kinda!

So, the Aussie cricket team, they went to Sri Lanka in Jan-Feb 2025, right? Huge deal, everyone was hyped. Two Test matches, two ODIs – a real cracker of a tour, or so we thought! It was part of that whole ICC World Test Championship thingy, 2023-2025, I think? Anyway, Australia totally smashed the Test series, but the ODI’s? Well, that’s another story.

A Dominant Performance by Australia – or was it?

Steve Smith, our captain, he was amazing! Seriously, a legend! 299 runs! I mean, wow! Player of the series, no doubt about it. Although, I heard some whispers about a dodgy umpire’s decision or two… but hey, that’s cricket, right?

Player Matches Runs Average
Steve Smith (Aus) 2 299 299.00 (Seriously?!)

Australia’s ODI Series Against Sri Lanka 2025 – A bit of a let down

The ODIs were supposed to be a walk in the park after the Test wins, part of their prep for the 2025 Champions Trophy. First match, Australia won by 8 wickets, thanks to Usman Khawaja’s 95 runs. He’s a good bloke, Khawaja. But the second match… well, let’s just say it wasn’t as smooth. I heard there was a bit of a rain delay, and then some questionable fielding… typical!

Player Matches Runs Average
Usman Khawaja (Aus) 1 95 – (needs updating!)

Sri Lanka’s Struggles – Poor things!

Poor Sri Lanka, they really struggled. They’ve been having a rough time lately, not just on this tour. They need a serious pep talk, maybe a holiday? Seriously, they deserve a break.

Player Matches Runs Average
Kusal Mendis (SL) 2 190 – (Come on, guys!)
Prabath Jayasuriya (SL) 2 – (Needs some serious practice!)

Tour Statistics – A bit of a one-sided affair

Series Australia Sri Lanka Result
Test Series 2-0 0-2 Australia won (easily!)

Fixtures and Schedule – All went according to plan (mostly)

The Tests were in Galle, the ODIs in Colombo. Pretty standard stuff. SLC confirmed everything back in November 2024. I think. Maybe October? I’m not entirely sure.

Recent News – A bit of a blur

  • Australia arrived on Jan 29th, 2025. I think.
  • Sri Lanka… well, they were there too.
  • ICC World Test Championship – Yeah, that thing.
