Mountaineers Basketball: A Winning Tradition, Kinda!

Man, the excitement’s electric! WVU Mountaineers basketball, you know? Sun sets over those West Virginia mountains, it’s awesome. They got a crazy good history, and fans? Loyal as heck. Ready to rumble in the Big 12. This here’s the lowdown.

A Season, Pretty Good Actually

2022-2023? Twenty-four wins, nine losses. Eleven and seven in the Big 12. NCAA Tournament? Nope. But Oso Ighodaro, wow! That guy’s a beast. Twelve and a half points a game, six and a half rebounds. First season, too! Amazing.

Players, Past and Present

WVU’s churned out some serious talent. Daxton Hill, remember him? Six-eight, played four years. Averaged ten and a half points. Good stuff. Esa Agbaji, a guard, was a scoring machine!

The Coaching Crew

Coach Huggins, he’s been there since ’07! Three NCAA appearances, two Big 12 titles. Ron Cunningham’s a great assistant coach. Been there since 2018. They develop players well.

The Coliseum: A Tough Place to Play

Morgantown’s Coliseum? Sixteen thousand screaming fans. It’s intense. Seriously intimidating for opponents.

Rivalries, Oh Boy!

Kansas Jayhawks, always a battle. Marshall Thundering Herd, that’s a heated local rivalry.

Awards Galore!

Ighodaro won Big 12 Player of the Year in ’23. Hill snagged Defensive Player of the Year in ’22. They deserve it!
