Creighton Bluejays Basketball: A Team on the Rise! (Woohoo!)

The Creighton University Blue Jays men’s basketball team, they’ve been killin’ it lately in college hoops, and I’m super stoked to tell ya all about ’em. Seriously, they’re awesome.

A Season of Success (So far, anyway!)

As of, like, February 6th, 2023 (or maybe it was the 7th, I can’t quite remember), the Creighton Bluejays were ranked #24 in the AP Poll – pretty darn good, right?! They were on a crazy hot streak, winning like, 10 games in a row! Man, that’s impressive. Their last loss? Ugh, against Xavier on January 21st, 2023. That one still stings a little. But hey, we bounced back! Senior guard Ryan Nembhard’s been a beast, averaging, I think, 18.5 points and 6.3 assists per game. He’s a baller!

The Future is Bright! (Can’t wait!)

The Bluejays are lookin’ good for the future, with a killer recruiting class. Jalen Duren, a 6’10” forward from Memphis – dude’s a monster! – and Caleb Griggs, a 6’8″ forward from Chicago, are both top recruits. Jalen was ranked #1 by ESPN, I think, and Caleb was, like, top 10 by Rivals. Seriously, the future is bright! I’m so excited!

Coaching Excellence (Gotta love ’em!)

Coach Greg McDermott, he’s been at the helm for 10 seasons now! Ten! That’s a long time. He’s got a great track record, leading the Bluejays to three NCAA Tournament appearances. His coaching staff – Wojciechowski, Kellogg, and Ollie – they’re all top-notch. They’re a great team, on and off the court.

State-of-the-Art Facilities (Fancy!)

They play in Doud Arena (I think that’s how you spell it!), an 8,000-seat arena with a sweet video board and sound system. Plus, they’ve got access to the Creighton University Athletic Complex – a 10,000-square-foot weight room?! Wowzers! And a 40-yard indoor track. Jealous much?

Notable Alumni (Go Jays!)

Creighton’s got some serious alumni, including Doug McDermott (Chicago Bulls!), and Ryan Arcidiacono (played for the Sixers and Jazz!). Doug holds the school record for most points in a single season – over 1,000! That’s insane!

Rivalries (Time for some smack talk!)

The Bluejays have some serious rivalries, especially with Xavier. Their games are always intense! They also have rivalries with Baylor, Gonzaga, and Villanova – all tough teams.

NCAA Tournament History (March Madness!)

The Bluejays have been to the NCAA Tournament 10 times! They’ve won 2 games – their last win was against Utah State in 2022.

All-Time Records (Impressive!)

Their all-time record is 1,444-844 – that’s a pretty good winning percentage! They’ve also won 14 Missouri Valley Conference championships.
